Dominant groups
Analysis of the share of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander population attending educational institutions in the City of Parramatta in 2021 compared to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander in Greater Sydney shows that there was a lower proportion attending primary school, a lower proportion attending secondary school, and a higher proportion engaged in tertiary level education.
Overall, 9.2% of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander population were attending primary school, 7.5% of the population were attending secondary institutions, and 9.3% were learning at a tertiary level, compared with 14.5%, 10.6% and 7.4% respectively for the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander in Greater Sydney.
The major differences between the share of the population attending learning institutions of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander population in the City of Parramatta and the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander in Greater Sydney was:
- A larger percentage of people University (4.9% compared to 3.7%)
- A smaller percentage of people attending primary school (9.2% compared to 14.5%)
