Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in Northern Tasmania Region in 2021 shows the three most popular occupations were:

  • Professionals (12,346 people or 18.1%)
  • Technicians and Trades Workers (9,433 people or 13.9%)
  • Community and Personal Service Workers (9,071 people or 13.3%)

In combination these three occupations accounted for 30,850 people in total or 45.3% of the employed resident population.

In comparison, Regional TAS employed 16.5% in Professionals; 14.5% in Technicians and Trades Workers; and 13.3% in Community and Personal Service Workers.

The major differences between the jobs held by the population of Northern Tasmania Region and Regional TAS were:

  • A larger percentage of persons employed as Professionals (18.1% compared to 16.5%)
  • A smaller percentage of persons employed as Labourers (12.1% compared to 13.3%)
