Dominant groups

Analysis of the female five year age groups of Northern Tasmania Region in 2021 compared to Regional TAS shows that there was a similar proportion of females in the younger age groups (under 15) as well as a similar proportion of females in the older age groups (65+).

Overall, 15.8% of the female population was aged between 0 and 15, and 22.8% were aged 65 years and over, compared with 15.9% and 23.1% respectively for Regional TAS.

There were no major differences between Northern Tasmania Region and Regional TAS in 2021.

Emerging groups

From 2011 to 2021, Northern Tasmania Region's female population increased by 6,611 people (9.4%). This represents an average annual population change of 0.9% per year over the period.
