Dominant groups

Analysis of the female service age groups of Growth LGAs in NSW in 2021 compared to Camden Council shows that there was a lower proportion of females in the younger age groups (0 to 17 years) and a higher proportion of females in the older age groups (60+ years).

Overall, 25.2% of the female population was aged between 0 and 17, and 18.0% were aged 60 years and over, compared with 27.8% and 14.7% respectively for Camden Council .

The major differences between the female age structure of Growth LGAs in NSW and Camden Council were:

  • A larger percentage of 'Empty nesters and retirees' (9.3% compared to 7.6%)
  • A larger percentage of 'Seniors' (7.3% compared to 5.9%)
  • A smaller percentage of 'Young workforce' (14.6% compared to 17.0%)
  • A smaller percentage of 'Babies and pre-schoolers' (7.0% compared to 8.9%)

Emerging groups

From 2016 to 2021, Growth LGAs in NSW's female population increased by 105,405 people (17.7%). This represents an average annual population change of 3.31% per year over the period.

The largest changes in the female age structure in this area between 2016 and 2021 were in the age groups:

  • Parents and homebuilders (35 to 49) (+27,958 females)
  • Young workforce (25 to 34) (+14,422 females)
  • Seniors (70 to 84) (+14,088 females)
  • Primary schoolers (5 to 11) (+11,821 females)
