Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the female resident population in The Hills Shire in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (9,468 females or 20.4%)
  • Education and Training (6,639 females or 14.3%)
  • Retail Trade (4,670 females or 10.0%)

In combination, these three industries employed 20,777 females in total or 44.7% of the total employed female resident population.

In comparison, Blacktown City employed 24.3% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 10.9% in Education and Training; and 11.2% in Retail Trade.

The major differences between the jobs held by the female population of The Hills Shire and Blacktown City were:

  • A larger percentage of females employed in professional, scientific and technical services (10.0% compared to 6.4%)
