Analysis of the household/family types in the City of Hume in 2021 compared to the City of Casey shows that there was a lower proportion of couple families with child(ren) as well as a higher proportion of one-parent families. Overall, 43.4% of total families were couple families with child(ren), and 13.0% were one-parent families, compared with 45.4% and 11.6% respectively for the City of Casey .
There were a higher proportion of lone person households and a lower proportion of couples without children. Overall, the proportion of lone person households was 16.3% compared to 15.0% in the City of Casey while the proportion of couples without children was 19.2% compared to 20.7% in the City of Casey .
The number of households in City of Hume increased by 16,205 between 2016 and 2021.
