Dominant groups

Analysis of the five year age groups of Growth LGAs in NSW in 2021 compared to the City of Swan shows that there was a higher proportion of people in the younger age groups (under 15) as well as a higher proportion of people in the older age groups (65+).

Overall, 22.2% of the population was aged between 0 and 15, and 12.3% were aged 65 years and over, compared with 21.7% and 11.6% respectively for the City of Swan .

The major differences between the age structure of Growth LGAs in NSW and the City of Swan were:

  • A smaller percentage of persons aged 30 to 34 (7.4% compared to 8.1%)
  • A smaller percentage of persons aged 50 to 54 (5.9% compared to 6.4%)
