Dominant groups
Analysis of the five year age groups of Growth LGAs in NSW in 2021 compared to the City of Casey shows that there was a similar proportion of people in the younger age groups (under 15) and a higher proportion of people in the older age groups (65+).
Overall, 22.2% of the population was aged between 0 and 15, and 12.3% were aged 65 years and over, compared with 22.7% and 10.8% respectively for the City of Casey .
The major differences between the age structure of Growth LGAs in NSW and the City of Casey were:
- A larger percentage of persons aged 70 to 74 (3.4% compared to 2.9%)
- A smaller percentage of persons aged 30 to 34 (7.4% compared to 8.0%)
- A smaller percentage of persons aged 25 to 29 (6.7% compared to 7.2%)
Emerging groups
From 2011 to 2021, Growth LGAs in NSW's population increased by 341,958 people (32.6%). This represents an average annual population change of 2.87% per year over the period.
The largest changes in age structure in this area between 2011 and 2021 were in the age groups:
- 35 to 39 (+36,153 persons)
- 30 to 34 (+29,069 persons)
- 5 to 9 (+27,984 persons)
- 40 to 44 (+25,796 persons)
