Dominant groups

Analysis of the share of the population attending educational institutions in Growth LGAs in Queensland in 2021 compared to the Shire of Mitchell shows that there was a similar proportion attending primary school, a higher proportion attending secondary school, and a similar proportion engaged in tertiary level education.

Overall, 9.2% of the population were attending primary school, 7.4% of the population were attending secondary institutions, and 5.5% were learning at a tertiary level, compared with 9.2%, 6.4% and 5.0% respectively for the Shire of Mitchell .

The major differences between the share of the population attending learning institutions in Growth LGAs in Queensland and the Shire of Mitchell were:

  • A larger percentage of persons attending a secondary school (any type) (7.4% compared to 6.4%)
  • A smaller percentage of persons attending a Catholic primary school (1.4% compared to 2.4%)
