Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the male resident population in Mornington in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Construction (1,340 males or 24.2%)
  • Manufacturing (513 males or 9.3%)
  • Retail Trade (450 males or 8.1%)

In combination, these three industries employed 2,303 males in total or 41.6% of the total employed male resident population.

In comparison, Watson Ward employed 29.3% in Construction; 11.2% in Manufacturing; and 7.9% in Retail Trade.

The major differences between the jobs held by the male population of Mornington and Watson Ward were:

  • A larger percentage of males employed in health care and social assistance (5.6% compared to 3.0%)
  • A larger percentage of males employed in professional, scientific and technical services (6.9% compared to 4.6%)
