Analysis of the household/family types of people aged 12 to 25 years in Mornington Peninsula Shire in 2021 compared to Greater Melbourne, shows that there was a higher proportion of people aged 12 to 25 years in couple families with child(ren) as well as a higher proportion in one-parent families. Overall, 63.1% of people aged 12 to 25 years were in couple families with child(ren), and 21.4% were in one-parent families, compared with 58.6% and 17.7% respectively for Greater Melbourne.
There was a lower proportion of people aged 12 to 25 years in lone person households and a lower proportion in couples without children. Overall, the proportion of people aged 12 to 25 years in lone person households was 1.8% compared to 3.2% in Greater Melbourne while the proportion of couples without children was 5.1% compared to 7.0% in Greater Melbourne.
