Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in Essendon in 2021 shows the three most popular occupations were:

  • Professionals (3,912 people or 32.8%)
  • Managers (2,025 people or 17.0%)
  • Clerical and Administrative Workers (1,767 people or 14.8%)

In combination these three occupations accounted for 7,704 people in total or 64.5% of the employed resident population.

In comparison, Travancore employed 40.1% in Professionals; 12.3% in Managers; and 12.9% in Clerical and Administrative Workers.

The major differences between the jobs held by the population of Essendon and Travancore were:

  • A larger percentage of persons employed as Managers (17.0% compared to 12.3%)
  • A larger percentage of persons employed as Sales Workers (8.1% compared to 6.0%)
