Dominant groups
Analysis of the ancestry responses of the population in Travancore in 2021 shows that the top five ancestries nominated were:
- English (484 people or 22.9%)
- Australian (399 people or 18.8%)
- Chinese (249 people or 11.8%)
- Irish (218 people or 10.3%)
- Scottish (170 people or 8.0%)
In combination these five ancestries account for 1,520 responses in total, or 71.77% of all responses.
The major differences between the ancestries of the population in Travancore and M9 Inner Melbourne region were:
- A larger percentage of people with Indian ancestry (7.5% compared to 3.8%)
- A larger percentage of people with Italian ancestry (7.1% compared to 5.3%)
- A smaller percentage of people with English ancestry (22.9% compared to 27.6%)
- A smaller percentage of people with Australian ancestry (18.8% compared to 20.6%)
