Dominant groups
Analysis of the car ownership of Chinese languages speakers in the City of Merri-bek in 2021 compared to Greater Melbourne shows that 87.8% were in households that owned at least one car, while 11.6% did not, compared with 89.5% and 9.6% respectively in Greater Melbourne.
Of those that owned at least one vehicle, there was a larger proportion owned just one car; a smaller proportion owned two cars; and a smaller proportion that owned three cars or more.
Overall, 43.6% of Chinese languages speakers were in households that owned one car; 33.4% owned two cars; and 10.7% owned three cars or more, compared with 31.3%, 42.0% and 16.2% respectively for Greater Melbourne.
