Dominant groups
Analysis of the housing tenure of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander population of the City of Melville in 2021 compared to Greater Perth shows that there was a larger proportion of households who owned their dwelling; a smaller proportion purchasing their dwelling; and a larger proportion who were renters.
Overall, 15.9% of the population owned their dwelling; 28.1% were purchasing, and 52.2% were renting, compared with 10.8%, 34.9% and 50.8% respectively for Greater Perth.
The major differences between housing tenure for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander households of City of Melville and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander households of Greater Perth were:
