Dominant groups
Analysis of the housing tenure of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander population of the City of Maroondah in 2021 compared to Greater Melbourne shows that there was a larger proportion of households who owned their dwelling; a larger proportion purchasing their dwelling; and a smaller proportion who were renters.
Overall, 18.9% of the population owned their dwelling; 30.6% were purchasing, and 48.1% were renting, compared with 14.2%, 29.1% and 53.3% respectively for Greater Melbourne.
The major differences between housing tenure for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander households of City of Maroondah and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander households of Greater Melbourne were:
