Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the male resident population in City of Marion in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Construction (3,470 males or 14.6%)
  • Health Care and Social Assistance (2,330 males or 9.8%)
  • Retail Trade (2,102 males or 8.9%)

In combination, these three industries employed 7,902 males in total or 33.3% of the total employed male resident population.

In comparison, Greater Adelaide employed 14.2% in Construction; 7.9% in Health Care and Social Assistance; and 8.7% in Retail Trade.

The major differences between the jobs held by the male population of the City of Marion and Greater Adelaide were:

  • A larger percentage of males employed in health care and social assistance (9.8% compared to 7.9%)
  • A smaller percentage of males employed in manufacturing (7.4% compared to 9.4%)

Emerging groups

The number of employed males in City of Marion increased by 2,765 between 2016 and 2021.
