Analysis of the household/family types in East Precinct in 2021 compared to Central Precinct shows that there was a lower proportion of couple families with child(ren) as well as a lower proportion of one-parent families. Overall, 11.6% of total families were couple families with child(ren), and 6.8% were one-parent families, compared with 24.7% and 8.9% respectively for Central Precinct.
There were a higher proportion of lone person households and a higher proportion of couples without children. Overall, the proportion of lone person households was 37.3% compared to 27.7% in Central Precinct while the proportion of couples without children was 24.9% compared to 23.8% in Central Precinct.

The number of households in East Precinct increased by 2,368 between 1996 and 2021.
The largest changes in family/household types in East Precinct between 1996 and 2021 were:
