Dominant groups
Analysis of the five year age groups of Central Precinct in 2021 compared to East Precinct shows that there was a higher proportion of people in the younger age groups (under 15) as well as a higher proportion of people in the older age groups (65+).
Overall, 15.7% of the population was aged between 0 and 15, and 11.4% were aged 65 years and over, compared with 8.7% and 10.5% respectively for East Precinct.
The major differences between the age structure of Central Precinct and East Precinct were:
- A larger percentage of persons aged 5 to 9 (5.4% compared to 2.9%)
- A smaller percentage of persons aged 25 to 29 (11.1% compared to 15.9%)

The largest changes in age structure in this area between 2006 and 2021 were in the age groups:

- 35 to 39 (+652 persons)
- 25 to 29 (+576 persons)
- 40 to 44 (+318 persons)
