More Division 11 residents worked in construction than any other industry in 2021.

Division 11's industry statistics identify the industry sectors in which the residents work (which may be within the residing area or elsewhere). This will be influenced by the skill base and socio-economic status of the residents as well as the industries and employment opportunities present in the region.

When viewed in conjunction with Residents Place of Work data and Method of Travel to Work, industry sector statistics provide insights into the relationship between the economic and residential role of the area.

Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in Division 11 in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Construction (1,838 people or 13.7%)
  • Health Care and Social Assistance (1,594 people or 11.9%)
  • Retail Trade (1,348 people or 10.1%)

In combination, these three industries employed 4,780 people in total or 35.6% of the total employed resident population.

In comparison, Logan City employed 12.2% in Construction; 13.6% in Health Care and Social Assistance; and 10.1% in Retail Trade.

The major differences between the jobs held by the population of Division 11 and Logan City were:

  • A larger percentage of persons employed in construction (13.7% compared to 12.2%)
  • A smaller percentage of persons employed in health care and social assistance (11.9% compared to 13.6%)

Emerging groups

The number of employed people in Division 11 increased by 5,883 between 2006 and 2021.

The largest changes in the jobs held by the resident population between 2006 and 2021 in Division 11 were for those employed in:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (+1,069 persons)
  • Construction (+881 persons)
  • Education and Training (+575 persons)
  • Retail Trade (+461 persons)
