In 2021, the largest age group in Division 5 was 5 to 9 year olds. The group that changed the most since 2016 was 10 to 14 year olds, increasing by 552 people.

Dominant groups

Analysis of the five year age groups of Division 5 in 2021 compared to Tamborine - Mundoolun - Cedar Creek shows that there was a higher proportion of people in the younger age groups (under 15) and a lower proportion of people in the older age groups (65+).

Overall, 26.8% of the population was aged between 0 and 15, and 10.1% were aged 65 years and over, compared with 21.2% and 12.8% respectively for Tamborine - Mundoolun - Cedar Creek.

The major differences between the age structure of Division 5 and Tamborine - Mundoolun - Cedar Creek were:

  • A larger percentage of persons aged 25 to 29 (7.4% compared to 4.2%)
  • A larger percentage of persons aged 20 to 24 (7.4% compared to 4.2%)
  • A smaller percentage of persons aged 45 to 49 (5.5% compared to 8.8%)
  • A smaller percentage of persons aged 50 to 54 (5.2% compared to 8.5%)

Emerging groups

From 2016 to 2021, Division 5's population increased by 2,884 people (9.4%). This represents an average annual population change of 1.82% per year over the period.

The largest changes in age structure in this area between 2016 and 2021 were in the age groups:

  • 10 to 14 (+552 persons)
  • 15 to 19 (+384 persons)
  • 35 to 39 (+378 persons)
  • 70 to 74 (+260 persons)
