Dominant groups

Analysis of the five year age groups of Division 11 in 2021 compared to Moreton Bay shows that there was a higher proportion of people in the younger age groups (under 15) and a lower proportion of people in the older age groups (65+).

Overall, 23.8% of the population was aged between 0 and 15, and 10.4% were aged 65 years and over, compared with 20.0% and 17.6% respectively for Moreton Bay.

The major differences between the age structure of Division 11 and Moreton Bay were:

  • A larger percentage of persons aged 10 to 14 (8.6% compared to 7.2%)
  • A smaller percentage of persons aged 70 to 74 (3.2% compared to 5.0%)
  • A smaller percentage of persons aged 75 to 79 (1.8% compared to 3.5%)
  • A smaller percentage of persons aged 80 to 84 (0.8% compared to 2.1%)

From 2001 to 2021, Division 11's population increased by 14,720 people (127.3%). This represents an average annual population change of 4.19% per year over the period.

The largest changes in age structure in this area between 2001 and 2021 were in the age groups:

  • 10 to 14 (+1,226 persons)
  • 55 to 59 (+1,097 persons)
  • 15 to 19 (+1,071 persons)
  • 45 to 49 (+1,050 persons)
