Dominant groups

Analysis of the share of the population attending educational institutions in Division 7 in 2021 compared to New Beith and District shows that there was a lower proportion attending primary school, a lower proportion attending secondary school, and a similar proportion engaged in tertiary level education.

Overall, 9.2% of the population were attending primary school, 7.0% of the population were attending secondary institutions, and 5.4% were learning at a tertiary level, compared with 12.4%, 10.0% and 5.4% respectively for New Beith and District.

The major differences between the share of the population attending learning institutions in Division 7 and New Beith and District were:

  • A larger percentage of persons not attending (69.4% compared to 66.7%)
  • A smaller percentage of persons attending a primary school (any type) (9.2% compared to 12.4%)
  • A smaller percentage of persons attending a secondary school (any type) (7.0% compared to 10.0%)
  • A smaller percentage of persons attending a Catholic secondary school (0.8% compared to 2.6%)

Emerging groups

From 2016 to 2021, Division 7's population increased by 1,341 people (+4.9%). This represents an average annual change of 0.96% per year over the period.

The largest changes in the number of persons attending education institutions in Division 7, between 2016 and 2021 were in those who nominated:

  • Secondary school (+201 persons)
  • TAFE/Vocational (+175 persons)
  • Secondary - Government (+174 persons)
  • University (+115 persons)
