Analysis of the qualifications of the population in the Northern Suburbs in 2021 compared to East Launceston shows that there was a lower proportion of people holding formal qualifications (Bachelor or higher degree; Advanced Diploma or Diploma; or Vocational qualifications), and a higher proportion of people with no formal qualifications.
Overall, 41.3% of the population aged 15 and over held educational qualifications, and 48.2% had no qualifications, compared with 63.7% and 30.7% respectively for East Launceston.
The major differences between qualifications held by the population of the Northern Suburbs and East Launceston were:
- A larger percentage of persons with No qualifications (48.2% compared to 30.7%)
- A larger percentage of persons with Vocational qualifications (20.9% compared to 13.7%)
- A smaller percentage of persons with Bachelor or Higher degrees (15.4% compared to 40.5%)
- A smaller percentage of persons with Advanced Diploma or Diplomas (5.0% compared to 9.6%)

The largest changes in the qualifications of the population in the Northern Suburbs between 2016 and 2021 were in those with:
- Bachelor or Higher degrees (+1,350 persons)
- Vocational qualifications (+491 persons)
- No qualifications (-389 persons)
- Advanced Diploma or Diplomas (+57 persons)
