There were more professionals in Joondalup in 2016 than any other occupation.

Dominant groups
An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in Joondalup in 2016 shows the three most popular occupations were:
- Professionals (984 people or 21.1%)
- Technicians and Trades Workers (749 people or 16.0%)
- Clerical and Administrative Workers (642 people or 13.7%)
In combination these three occupations accounted for 2,375 people in total or 50.8% of the employed resident population.
In comparison, Kinross employed 18.1% in Professionals; 17.8% in Technicians and Trades Workers; and 14.7% in Clerical and Administrative Workers.
The major differences between the jobs held by the population of Joondalup and Kinross were:
