In 2021, the largest age group in Hillarys was 10 to 14 year olds. The group that changed the most since 2006 was 70 to 74 year olds, increasing by 272 people.

Dominant groups

Analysis of the male five year age groups of Hillarys in 2021 compared to the City of Joondalup shows that there was a lower proportion of males in the younger age groups (under 15) and a higher proportion of males in the older age groups (65+).

Overall, 18.1% of the male population was aged between 0 and 15, and 19.3% were aged 65 years and over, compared with 19.4% and 17.2% respectively for the City of Joondalup.

The major differences between the male age structure of Hillarys and the City of Joondalup were:

  • A larger percentage of males aged 70 to 74 (6.5% compared to 5.2%)
  • A smaller percentage of males aged 35 to 39 (5.0% compared to 6.6%)
  • A smaller percentage of males aged 0 to 4 (4.1% compared to 5.5%)
  • A smaller percentage of males aged 30 to 34 (4.0% compared to 5.4%)

From 2006 to 2021, Hillarys's male population increased by 431 people (8.5%). This represents an average annual population change of 0.54% per year over the period.

The largest changes in male age structure in this area between 2006 and 2021 were in the age groups:

  • 65 to 69 (+212 males)
  • 60 to 64 (+160 males)
  • 75 to 79 (+114 males)
