Dominant groups
Analysis of the male five year age groups of Hillarys in 2021 compared to the City of Joondalup shows that there was a lower proportion of males in the younger age groups (under 15) and a higher proportion of males in the older age groups (65+).
Overall, 18.1% of the male population was aged between 0 and 15, and 19.3% were aged 65 years and over, compared with 19.4% and 17.2% respectively for the City of Joondalup.
The major differences between the male age structure of Hillarys and the City of Joondalup were:
- A larger percentage of males aged 70 to 74 (6.5% compared to 5.2%)
- A smaller percentage of males aged 35 to 39 (5.0% compared to 6.6%)

From 2006 to 2021, Hillarys's male population increased by 431 people (8.5%). This represents an average annual population change of 0.54% per year over the period.
The largest changes in male age structure in this area between 2006 and 2021 were in the age groups:
- 70 to 74 (+272 males)
- 65 to 69 (+212 males)
- 60 to 64 (+160 males)
- 75 to 79 (+114 males)
