Dominant groups

Analysis of the five year age groups of Duncraig in 2021 compared to Ocean Reef shows that there was a higher proportion of people in the younger age groups (under 15) as well as a higher proportion of people in the older age groups (65+).

Overall, 22.2% of the population was aged between 0 and 15, and 20.2% were aged 65 years and over, compared with 18.0% and 17.8% respectively for Ocean Reef.

The major differences between the age structure of Duncraig and Ocean Reef were:

  • A larger percentage of persons aged 35 to 39 (6.9% compared to 5.1%)
  • A smaller percentage of persons aged 55 to 59 (5.2% compared to 7.8%)
  • A smaller percentage of persons aged 20 to 24 (4.2% compared to 6.2%)
  • A smaller percentage of persons aged 50 to 54 (6.8% compared to 8.7%)

From 2006 to 2021, Duncraig's population increased by 538 people (3.6%). This represents an average annual population change of 0.23% per year over the period.
