Dominant groups
Analysis of the need for assistance of people in the City of Joondalup compared to Warwick shows that there was a lower proportion of people who reported needing assistance with core activities.
Overall, 3.8% of the population reported needing assistance with core activities, compared with 4.9% for Warwick.
The major differences in the age groups reporting a need for assistance in South Ward and Warwick were:
- A larger percentage of persons aged 85 and over (47.5% compared to 36.0%)
- A smaller percentage of persons aged 80 to 84 (17.7% compared to 22.6%)
- A smaller percentage of persons aged 60 to 64 (2.7% compared to 5.1%)
- A smaller percentage of persons aged 5 to 9 (3.5% compared to 5.4%)
Emerging groups
The major differences in the age groups reporting a need for assistance between 2011 and 2021 in South Ward were in the age groups:
- 75 to 79 (+64 persons)
- 70 to 74 (+59 persons)
- 20 to 59 (+58 persons)
