Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in Hume City in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (12,860 people or 12.5%)
  • Construction (11,932 people or 11.6%)
  • Transport, Postal and Warehousing (10,005 people or 9.7%)

In combination, these three industries employed 34,797 people in total or 33.8% of the total employed resident population.

In comparison, Greater Melbourne employed 13.5% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 9.3% in Construction; and 4.9% in Transport, Postal and Warehousing.
