NSROC Region's industry statistics identify the industry sectors in which the residents work (which may be within the residing area or elsewhere). This will be influenced by the skill base and socio-economic status of the residents as well as the industries and employment opportunities present in the region.
When viewed in conjunction with Residents Place of Work data and Method of Travel to Work, industry sector statistics provide insights into the relationship between the economic and residential role of the area.

Dominant groups
An analysis of the jobs held by the male resident population in NSROC Region in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:
- Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (30,557 males or 18.8%)
- Financial and Insurance Services (19,128 males or 11.8%)
- Construction (13,759 males or 8.5%)
In combination, these three industries employed 63,444 males in total or 39.0% of the total employed male resident population.
In comparison, Hornsby Shire employed 15.9% in Professional, Scientific and Technical Services; 9.0% in Financial and Insurance Services; and 10.5% in Construction.
The major differences between the jobs held by the male population of NSROC Region and Hornsby Shire were:
- A larger percentage of males employed in professional, scientific and technical services (18.8% compared to 15.9%)
- A larger percentage of males employed in financial and insurance services (11.8% compared to 9.0%)
- A smaller percentage of males employed in construction (8.5% compared to 10.5%)
- A smaller percentage of males employed in manufacturing (4.5% compared to 5.5%)
Emerging groups
The number of employed males in NSROC Region increased by 8,399 between 2016 and 2021.
The largest changes in the jobs held by the male resident population between 2016 and 2021 in NSROC Region were for those employed in:
- Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (+2,825 males)
- Financial and Insurance Services (+2,480 males)
- Health Care and Social Assistance (+2,147 males)
- Construction (+1,110 males)
