Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in Shire of Harvey in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Manufacturing (1,784 people or 13.2%)
  • Health Care and Social Assistance (1,568 people or 11.6%)
  • Construction (1,430 people or 10.6%)

In combination, these three industries employed 4,782 people in total or 35.4% of the total employed resident population.

In comparison, Regional WA employed 5.2% in Manufacturing; 11.4% in Health Care and Social Assistance; and 8.5% in Construction.

The major differences between the jobs held by the population of the Shire of Harvey and Regional WA were:

  • A larger percentage of persons employed in manufacturing (13.2% compared to 5.2%)
  • A larger percentage of persons employed in construction (10.6% compared to 8.5%)
  • A smaller percentage of persons employed in agriculture, forestry and fishing (5.0% compared to 9.0%)
