Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the female resident population in Rural Remainder in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing (138 females or 24.0%)
  • Health Care and Social Assistance (113 females or 19.6%)
  • Education and Training (95 females or 16.5%)

In combination, these three industries employed 346 females in total or 60.1% of the total employed female resident population.

In comparison, Gunnedah Shire employed 8.0% in Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing; 20.3% in Health Care and Social Assistance; and 16.2% in Education and Training.

The major differences between the jobs held by the female population of Rural Remainder and Gunnedah Shire were:

  • A larger percentage of females employed in agriculture, forestry and fishing (24.0% compared to 8.0%)
  • A smaller percentage of females employed in retail trade (7.3% compared to 11.5%)
  • A smaller percentage of females employed in mining (2.8% compared to 4.9%)
