Dominant groups

Analysis of the language used at home by the population of Canning Vale in 2021 compared to the City of Gosnells shows that there was a smaller proportion of people who used English only, and a larger proportion of those using a non-English language (either exclusively, or in addition to English).

Overall, 49.2% of the population used English only, and 43.1% used a non-English language, compared with 58.2% and 35.6% respectively for the City of Gosnells.

The dominant language used at home, other than English, in Canning Vale was Mandarin, with 10.4% of the population, or 2,551 people using this language at home.

The major differences between the languages used at home for the population of Canning Vale and the City of Gosnells in 2021 were:
