21.1% of females in Division 01 had a Vocational qualification in 2021, higher than Queensland. This represents an increase of 1,819 females since 2016.

Educational Qualifications relate to education outside of primary and secondary school and are one of the most important indicators of socio-economic status. With other data sources, such as Employment Status, Income and Occupation, Division 01's Educational Qualifications help to evaluate the economic opportunities and socio-economic status of the area and identify skill gaps in the labour market.

Dominant groups

Analysis of the qualifications of the female population in Division 01 in 2021 compared to Queensland shows that there was a higher proportion of females holding formal qualifications (Bachelor or higher degree; Advanced Diploma or Diploma; or Vocational qualifications), and a lower proportion of females with no formal qualifications.

Overall, 54.8% of the female population aged 15 and over held educational qualifications, and 37.4% had no qualifications, compared with 52.8% and 38.4% respectively for Queensland.

The major differences between qualifications held by the female population of Division 01 and Queensland were:

  • A larger percentage of females with Vocational qualifications (21.1% compared to 17.0%)
  • A larger percentage of females with Advanced Diploma or Diplomas (13.9% compared to 10.9%)
  • A smaller percentage of females with Bachelor or Higher degrees (19.7% compared to 24.9%)
  • A smaller percentage of females with No qualifications (37.4% compared to 38.4%)

Emerging groups

The largest changes in the qualifications of the female population in Division 01 between 2016 and 2021 were in those with:

  • No qualifications (+2,142 females)
  • Bachelor or Higher degrees (+2,112 females)
  • Vocational qualifications (+1,819 females)
  • Advanced Diploma or Diplomas (+1,253 females)
