Dominant groups

Analysis of the qualifications of the population in Division 09 in 2021 compared to Queensland shows that there was a higher proportion of people holding formal qualifications (Bachelor or higher degree; Advanced Diploma or Diploma; or Vocational qualifications), and a lower proportion of people with no formal qualifications.

Overall, 57.9% of the population aged 15 and over held educational qualifications, and 34.6% had no qualifications, compared with 53.5% and 37.5% respectively for Queensland.

The major differences between qualifications held by the population of Division 09 and Queensland were:

  • A larger percentage of persons with Advanced Diploma or Diplomas (11.6% compared to 9.4%)
  • A larger percentage of persons with Vocational qualifications (24.1% compared to 22.1%)
  • A smaller percentage of persons with No qualifications (34.6% compared to 37.5%)

Emerging groups

The largest changes in the qualifications of the population in Division 09 between 2006 and 2021 were in those with:

  • Bachelor or Higher degrees (+4,742 persons)
  • Vocational qualifications (+3,013 persons)
  • Advanced Diploma or Diplomas (+1,980 persons)
  • No qualifications (+115 persons)
