There were more professionals in Division 08 in 2021 than any other occupation.

Division 08's occupation statistics quantify the occupations in which the residents work (which may be within the residing area or elsewhere). This will be influenced by the economic base and employment opportunities available in the area, education levels, and the working and social aspirations of the population. When viewed with other indicators, such as Educational Qualifications and Individual Income, Occupation is a key measure for evaluating Division 08's socio-economic status and skill base.

Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in Division 08 in 2021 shows the three most popular occupations were:

  • Professionals (4,267 people or 21.5%)
  • Managers (2,688 people or 13.6%)
  • Clerical and Administrative Workers (2,634 people or 13.3%)

In combination these three occupations accounted for 9,589 people in total or 48.4% of the employed resident population.

In comparison, Upper Coomera (South) - Wongawallan employed 19.0% in Professionals; 14.0% in Managers; and 13.8% in Clerical and Administrative Workers.

The major differences between the jobs held by the population of Division 08 and Upper Coomera (South) - Wongawallan were:

  • A larger percentage of persons employed as Professionals (21.5% compared to 19.0%)
  • A larger percentage of persons employed as Sales Workers (11.6% compared to 9.7%)
  • A smaller percentage of persons employed as Technicians and Trades Workers (12.9% compared to 15.2%)
  • A smaller percentage of persons employed as Machinery Operators And Drivers (4.5% compared to 5.8%)

Emerging groups

The number of employed people in Division 08 increased by 1,586 between 2016 and 2021.

The largest changes in the occupations of residents between 2016 and 2021 in Division 08 were for those employed as:

  • Professionals (+850 persons)
  • Managers (+431 persons)
  • Community and Personal Service Workers (+361 persons)
  • Sales Workers (-112 persons)
