There were more professionals in Division 07 in 2021 than any other occupation.

Division 07's occupation statistics quantify the occupations in which the residents work (which may be within the residing area or elsewhere). This will be influenced by the economic base and employment opportunities available in the area, education levels, and the working and social aspirations of the population. When viewed with other indicators, such as Educational Qualifications and Individual Income, Occupation is a key measure for evaluating Division 07's socio-economic status and skill base.

Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in Division 07 in 2021 shows the three most popular occupations were:

  • Professionals (4,557 people or 21.0%)
  • Technicians and Trades Workers (3,100 people or 14.3%)
  • Community and Personal Service Workers (2,912 people or 13.4%)

In combination these three occupations accounted for 10,569 people in total or 48.7% of the employed resident population.

In comparison, Paradise Point - Hollywell employed 20.4% in Professionals; 13.4% in Technicians and Trades Workers; and 9.1% in Community and Personal Service Workers.

The major differences between the jobs held by the population of Division 07 and Paradise Point - Hollywell were:

  • A larger percentage of persons employed as Community and Personal Service Workers (13.4% compared to 9.1%)
  • A larger percentage of persons employed as Labourers (10.6% compared to 6.8%)
  • A smaller percentage of persons employed as Managers (10.3% compared to 18.7%)
  • A smaller percentage of persons employed as Clerical and Administrative Workers (12.0% compared to 15.0%)

Emerging groups

The number of employed people in Division 07 increased by 1,785 between 2016 and 2021.

The largest changes in the occupations of residents between 2016 and 2021 in Division 07 were for those employed as:

  • Professionals (+1,017 persons)
  • Community and Personal Service Workers (+324 persons)
  • Managers (+191 persons)
  • Technicians and Trades Workers (+177 persons)
