More Division 07 female residents worked in health care and social assistance than any other industry in 2021.

Division 07's industry statistics identify the industry sectors in which the residents work (which may be within the residing area or elsewhere). This will be influenced by the skill base and socio-economic status of the residents as well as the industries and employment opportunities present in the region.

When viewed in conjunction with Residents Place of Work data and Method of Travel to Work, industry sector statistics provide insights into the relationship between the economic and residential role of the area.

Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the female resident population in Division 07 in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (2,880 females or 26.7%)
  • Education and Training (1,300 females or 12.0%)
  • Retail Trade (1,225 females or 11.4%)

In combination, these three industries employed 5,405 females in total or 50.1% of the total employed female resident population.

In comparison, Gold Coast City employed 23.2% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 12.1% in Education and Training; and 12.0% in Retail Trade.

The major difference between the jobs held by the female population of Division 07 and Gold Coast City was:

  • A larger percentage of females employed in health care and social assistance (26.7% compared to 23.2%)

Emerging groups

The number of employed females in Division 07 increased by 1,018 between 2016 and 2021.

The largest changes in the jobs held by the female resident population between 2016 and 2021 in Division 07 were for those employed in:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (+648 females)
  • Education and Training (+140 females)
  • Retail Trade (-113 females)
  • Accommodation and Food Services (-90 females)
