More Division 10 male residents worked in construction than any other industry in 2021.

This will be influenced by the skill base and socio-economic status of the residents as well as the industries and employment opportunities present in the region.

When viewed in conjunction with Residents Place of Work data and Method of Travel to Work, industry sector statistics provide insights into the relationship between the economic and residential role of the area.

Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the male resident population in Division 10 in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Construction (1,707 males or 14.2%)
  • Accommodation and Food Services (1,650 males or 13.7%)
  • Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (1,001 males or 8.3%)

In combination, these three industries employed 4,358 males in total or 36.1% of the total employed male resident population.

In comparison, Willow Vale - Pimpama (West) employed 22.3% in Construction; 5.3% in Accommodation and Food Services; and 5.9% in Professional, Scientific and Technical Services.

The major differences between the jobs held by the male population of Division 10 and Willow Vale - Pimpama (West) were:

  • A larger percentage of males employed in accommodation and food services (13.7% compared to 5.3%)
  • A larger percentage of males employed in rental, hiring and real estate services (4.7% compared to 1.1%)
  • A smaller percentage of males employed in construction (14.2% compared to 22.3%)
  • A smaller percentage of males employed in manufacturing (4.4% compared to 10.1%)

Emerging groups

The number of employed males in Division 10 increased by 1,070 between 2016 and 2021.

The largest changes in the jobs held by the male resident population between 2016 and 2021 in Division 10 were for those employed in:

  • Construction (+209 males)
  • Accommodation and Food Services (-206 males)
  • Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (+200 males)
  • Health Care and Social Assistance (+183 males)
