Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the female resident population in Merrimac in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (469 females or 25.1%)
  • Retail Trade (250 females or 13.4%)
  • Education and Training (248 females or 13.3%)

In combination, these three industries employed 967 females in total or 51.8% of the total employed female resident population.

In comparison, Surfers Paradise - North employed 16.5% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 10.8% in Retail Trade; and 7.7% in Education and Training.

The major differences between the jobs held by the female population of Merrimac and Surfers Paradise - North were:

  • A larger percentage of females employed in health care and social assistance (25.1% compared to 16.5%)
