Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the male resident population in Hope Island in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Construction (578 males or 16.9%)
  • Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (311 males or 9.1%)
  • Retail Trade (302 males or 8.8%)

In combination, these three industries employed 1,191 males in total or 34.8% of the total employed male resident population.

In comparison, Greater Brisbane employed 14.3% in Construction; 9.3% in Professional, Scientific and Technical Services; and 8.0% in Retail Trade.

The major differences between the jobs held by the male population of Hope Island and Greater Brisbane were:

  • A larger percentage of males employed in rental, hiring and real estate services (4.6% compared to 1.7%)
  • A larger percentage of males employed in construction (16.9% compared to 14.3%)
  • A smaller percentage of males employed in public administration and safety (3.6% compared to 6.9%)
