Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the female resident population in Gold Coast City in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (35,313 females or 23.2%)
  • Education and Training (18,433 females or 12.1%)
  • Retail Trade (18,274 females or 12.0%)

In combination, these three industries employed 72,020 females in total or 47.3% of the total employed female resident population.

In comparison, Helensvale employed 24.0% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 12.3% in Education and Training; and 11.8% in Retail Trade.

The major difference between the jobs held by the female population of Gold Coast City and Helensvale was:

  • A larger percentage of females employed in accommodation and food services (9.7% compared to 7.8%)

Emerging groups

The number of employed females in Gold Coast City increased by 25,256 between 2016 and 2021.

The largest changes in the jobs held by the female resident population between 2016 and 2021 in Gold Coast City were for those employed in:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (+10,063 females)

  • Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (+2,227 females)
