In Division 06, 16.0% of households were made up of couples with children in 2021, compared with 13.3% in Division 10.

Dominant groups

Analysis of the household/family types in Division 06 in 2021 compared to Division 10 shows that there was a higher proportion of couple families with child(ren) as well as a higher proportion of one-parent families. Overall, 16.0% of total families were couple families with child(ren), and 11.2% were one-parent families, compared with 13.3% and 6.5% respectively for Division 10.

There were a higher proportion of lone person households and a lower proportion of couples without children. Overall, the proportion of lone person households was 31.4% compared to 30.7% in Division 10 while the proportion of couples without children was 23.9% compared to 28.2% in Division 10.

Emerging groups

The number of households in Division 06 increased by 7,256 between 2001 and 2021.

The largest changes in family/household types in Division 06 between 2001 and 2021 were:

  • Lone person (+2,440 households)
  • Couples without children (+1,805 households)
  • One parent families (+795 households)
  • Group household (+785 households)
