In 2021, the largest age group in Division 13 was 30 to 34 year olds. The group that changed the most since 2016 was 70 to 74 year olds, increasing by 264 people.

Dominant groups

Analysis of the male five year age groups of Division 13 in 2021 compared to Gold Coast City shows that there was a lower proportion of males in the younger age groups (under 15) and a higher proportion of males in the older age groups (65+).

Overall, 17.3% of the male population was aged between 0 and 15, and 19.1% were aged 65 years and over, compared with 18.6% and 17.0% respectively for Gold Coast City.

The major differences between the male age structure of Division 13 and Gold Coast City were:

  • A larger percentage of males aged 65 to 69 (5.6% compared to 4.9%)
  • A smaller percentage of males aged 20 to 24 (5.2% compared to 6.3%)
  • A smaller percentage of males aged 15 to 19 (5.4% compared to 6.1%)
  • A smaller percentage of males aged 10 to 14 (5.9% compared to 6.6%)

Emerging groups

From 2016 to 2021, Division 13's male population increased by 788 people (4.5%). This represents an average annual population change of 0.89% per year over the period.

The largest changes in male age structure in this area between 2016 and 2021 were in the age groups:

  • 70 to 74 (+264 males)
  • 45 to 49 (+132 males)
  • 30 to 34 (+129 males)
  • 35 to 39 (+100 males)
