In 2021, the largest age group in Division 07 was 20 to 24 year olds. The group that changed the most since 2001 was 55 to 59 year olds, increasing by 1,479 people.

Dominant groups

Analysis of the five year age groups of Division 07 in 2021 compared to Division 05 shows that there was a lower proportion of people in the younger age groups (under 15) and a higher proportion of people in the older age groups (65+).

Overall, 15.5% of the population was aged between 0 and 15, and 18.8% were aged 65 years and over, compared with 21.1% and 13.4% respectively for Division 05.

The major differences between the age structure of Division 07 and Division 05 were:

  • A larger percentage of persons aged 20 to 24 (7.2% compared to 5.7%)
  • A larger percentage of persons aged 70 to 74 (5.2% compared to 3.9%)
  • A smaller percentage of persons aged 10 to 14 (5.4% compared to 7.6%)
  • A smaller percentage of persons aged 5 to 9 (5.3% compared to 7.4%)

Emerging groups

From 2001 to 2021, Division 07's population increased by 12,272 people (36.3%). This represents an average annual population change of 1.56% per year over the period.

The largest changes in age structure in this area between 2001 and 2021 were in the age groups:

  • 55 to 59 (+1,479 persons)
  • 60 to 64 (+1,479 persons)
  • 70 to 74 (+1,415 persons)
  • 65 to 69 (+1,371 persons)
