Dominant groups
Analysis of the five year age groups of Division 03 in 2021 compared to Regional Queensland shows that there was a higher proportion of people in the younger age groups (under 15) and a lower proportion of people in the older age groups (65+).
Overall, 25.2% of the population was aged between 0 and 15, and 8.2% were aged 65 years and over, compared with 18.0% and 19.8% respectively for Regional Queensland.
The major differences between the age structure of Division 03 and Regional Queensland were:
- A larger percentage of persons aged 5 to 9 (8.9% compared to 6.1%)
- A smaller percentage of persons aged 65 to 69 (2.9% compared to 6.0%)
- A smaller percentage of persons aged 70 to 74 (2.5% compared to 5.5%)
- A smaller percentage of persons aged 60 to 64 (3.7% compared to 6.6%)
Emerging groups
From 2016 to 2021, Division 03's population increased by 10,282 people (24.3%). This represents an average annual population change of 4.45% per year over the period.
The largest changes in age structure in this area between 2016 and 2021 were in the age groups:
- 50 to 54 (+1,123 persons)
- 10 to 14 (+1,061 persons)
- 15 to 19 (+808 persons)
- 45 to 49 (+799 persons)
