In 2021, the largest age group in Division 04 was 70 to 74 year olds. The group that changed the most since 2006 was 70 to 74 year olds, increasing by 874 people.

Dominant groups

Analysis of the female five year age groups of Division 04 in 2021 compared to Coombabah shows that there was a lower proportion of females in the younger age groups (under 15) as well as a lower proportion of females in the older age groups (65+).

Overall, 11.6% of the female population was aged between 0 and 15, and 30.3% were aged 65 years and over, compared with 12.6% and 34.8% respectively for Coombabah.

The major differences between the female age structure of Division 04 and Coombabah were:

  • A larger percentage of females aged 50 to 54 (6.9% compared to 5.3%)
  • A larger percentage of females aged 55 to 59 (7.5% compared to 6.3%)
  • A smaller percentage of females aged 75 to 79 (6.1% compared to 7.8%)
  • A smaller percentage of females aged 80 to 84 (4.2% compared to 5.2%)

Emerging groups

From 2006 to 2021, Division 04's female population increased by 4,590 people (28.1%). This represents an average annual population change of 1.67% per year over the period.

The largest changes in female age structure in this area between 2006 and 2021 were in the age groups:

  • 70 to 74 (+874 females)
  • 65 to 69 (+643 females)
  • 75 to 79 (+426 females)
  • 60 to 64 (+372 females)
