Dominant groups
Analysis of the five year age groups of Division 13 in 2021 compared to South East Queensland shows that there was a lower proportion of people in the younger age groups (under 15) and a higher proportion of people in the older age groups (65+).
Overall, 16.0% of the population was aged between 0 and 15, and 20.8% were aged 65 years and over, compared with 18.7% and 16.3% respectively for South East Queensland.
The major differences between the age structure of Division 13 and South East Queensland were:
- A larger percentage of persons aged 65 to 69 (6.0% compared to 4.8%)
- A larger percentage of persons aged 70 to 74 (5.6% compared to 4.4%)
- A smaller percentage of persons aged 15 to 19 (5.0% compared to 6.1%)
- A smaller percentage of persons aged 10 to 14 (5.5% compared to 6.6%)
Emerging groups
From 2001 to 2021, Division 13's population increased by 5,789 people (17.6%). This represents an average annual population change of 0.82% per year over the period.
The largest changes in age structure in this area between 2001 and 2021 were in the age groups:
- 30 to 34 (+765 persons)
- 35 to 39 (+746 persons)
- 60 to 64 (+567 persons)
- 55 to 59 (+542 persons)
