Dominant groups
Analysis of the five year age groups of Division 13 in 2021 compared to Broadbeach Waters shows that there was a higher proportion of people in the younger age groups (under 15) as well as a higher proportion of people in the older age groups (65+).
Overall, 16.0% of the population was aged between 0 and 15, and 20.8% were aged 65 years and over, compared with 15.4% and 20.0% respectively for Broadbeach Waters.
The major differences between the age structure of Division 13 and Broadbeach Waters were:
- A larger percentage of persons aged 30 to 34 (7.3% compared to 6.0%)
- A larger percentage of persons aged 25 to 29 (6.8% compared to 5.8%)
- A smaller percentage of persons aged 50 to 54 (6.2% compared to 7.8%)
- A smaller percentage of persons aged 55 to 59 (5.9% compared to 7.2%)
Emerging groups
From 2016 to 2021, Division 13's population increased by 1,232 people (3.3%). This represents an average annual population change of 0.65% per year over the period.
The largest changes in age structure in this area between 2016 and 2021 were in the age groups:
- 25 to 29 (+328 persons)
- 35 to 39 (+323 persons)
- 70 to 74 (+322 persons)
- 30 to 34 (+264 persons)
