In 2021, the largest age group in Division 13 was 30 to 34 year olds. The group that changed the most since 2016 was 25 to 29 year olds, increasing by 328 people.

Dominant groups

Analysis of the five year age groups of Division 13 in 2021 compared to Broadbeach Waters shows that there was a higher proportion of people in the younger age groups (under 15) as well as a higher proportion of people in the older age groups (65+).

Overall, 16.0% of the population was aged between 0 and 15, and 20.8% were aged 65 years and over, compared with 15.4% and 20.0% respectively for Broadbeach Waters.

The major differences between the age structure of Division 13 and Broadbeach Waters were:

  • A larger percentage of persons aged 30 to 34 (7.3% compared to 6.0%)
  • A larger percentage of persons aged 25 to 29 (6.8% compared to 5.8%)
  • A smaller percentage of persons aged 50 to 54 (6.2% compared to 7.8%)
  • A smaller percentage of persons aged 55 to 59 (5.9% compared to 7.2%)

Emerging groups

From 2016 to 2021, Division 13's population increased by 1,232 people (3.3%). This represents an average annual population change of 0.65% per year over the period.

The largest changes in age structure in this area between 2016 and 2021 were in the age groups:

  • 25 to 29 (+328 persons)
  • 35 to 39 (+323 persons)
  • 70 to 74 (+322 persons)
  • 30 to 34 (+264 persons)
