Dominant groups
Analysis of the family blending in Division 09 in 2021 compared to Runaway Bay shows that there was a lower proportion of step families as well as a lower proportion of blended families. Overall, 9.1% of total couple families with children were step families, and 3.8% were blended families, compared with 11.5% and 4.2% respectively for Runaway Bay.
There were a lower proportion of other families and a higher proportion of couples without children. Overall, the proportion of other families was 0.6% compared to 1.1% in Runaway Bay while the proportion of intact families was 86.5% compared to 83.2% in Runaway Bay.

The number of couple families with children in Division 09 increased by 516 between 2016 and 2021.
The largest changes in family blending in Division 09 between 2016 and 2021 were:

- Step family (+123 couples with children)
